 Digging Deeper Behind the Scenes Tour

Caring for animals goes beyond just feeding and cleaning, and has many unique elements like enriching animals' daily lives. Enrichment is an important element to keep animals mentally stimulated and utilizing natural behaviors.

We believe in giving our animals choices, and cannot guarantee animals will present themselves to be touched or fed. You will not receive a refund if an animal chooses not to be fed or touched.

Tours meet at the guest services building near the main entrance of the Zoo on the corner of Drake St and Randall Ave.

This tour is public. Max of 7 people per tour.

Please be on time for your tour. If you are more than 5 minutes late, we cannot guarantee you will be able to participate in the tour. End times are approximate and may shift due to the unpredictable nature of animals and animal choice.

Closed toed shoes are required for all tours. 

 Highlights: 

  • Tour the Green Barn (in the Children's Zoo, houses Red Pandas, Gibbons, Aardvark, and Meerkats)

  • Pick out and create enrichment for meerkats

  • Pick out and create enrichment for Aardvark

Time: 2-3

Length: 60 minute

Cancellation Policy
If a tour needs to be cancelled by the zoo due to severe weather or unforeseen circumstances we will reschedule your tour or give you refund. If, on the other hand, you choose to cancel we can reschedule your tour if given more than one week notice. Cancellations less than one week prior to the tour, or if participants do not show up for the tour, will not receive a refund. All cancellations must be made via email to education@henryvilaszoo.gov. If you are cancelling the day of please email as well as call 608-444-1861
