FAQ

Which animals will be on exhibit? We give our animals the choice of whether they would like to be in their outdoor or indoor exhibit each day, and there may be times certain animals are not on display or certain animal buildings that are closed to the public. All of our animals who can be on exhibit will have indoor and outdoor access. Areas noted in the schedule as having enrichment or wildlife champions have a increased likelihood of animal sightings.

Is this event accessible? Henry Vilas Zoo has made great strides in building accessibility tools into the Zoo experience. We offer wheelchairs for rental and free sensory bag rentals with noise cancelling headphones for any guests who need those tools. All of our event paths are wheelchair accessible and have automatic doors. Some paths utilize hills and feature some uneven ground that can prove difficult for some mobility aid users. If you have specific concerns that we have not addressed or would like to discuss additional accommodation options, then please reach out to our Guest Services department at zoo@henryvilaszoo.gov.

Do I need an I.D. to attend? Yes, all guests will need to show a photo I.D. to attend. Guests must be 18 years old or older. Anyone under the age of 18 will be turned away. We recognize that not all I.D.'s reflect the gender presentation or current name of the I.D. holder. The Zoo does not require ticket purchaser names to match a government I.D.  If you have questions about this policy, please reach out to our Guest Services department at zoo@henryvilaszoo.gov.

Can I purchase tickets at the gate? We highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. If tickets are available when the gate opens, we will put them on sale. Gate sales are credit card only. Staff will be unable to make change. 

What is an Animal Enrichment Drop? Animal Enrichment is a Zookeeper led activity for the animals that all animals receive as part of their daily care. Enrichment drops include timed, themed, activities that provide mentally and physically stimulating opportunities to engage in natural behaviors. For guests - it's an exciting opportunity to learn more about our animals by seeing them have fun, as close to a guarantee seeing the animals, and an opportunity to get your animal questions answered by our knowledgeable volunteer Wildlife Champions!

What safety measures does the Zoo have in place? The Zoo will have 2 uniformed, active-duty police officers on-site to assist with crowd control at Pride. The Zoo also has a regularly scheduled security guard who will be available to assist with any safety concerns you may have. WEATHER AND CANCELLATION POLICY

TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. If you cannot attend, then you can give your ticket to a friend or family member who is 18 or older. This event will run rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.

In the event of truly severe weather, Henry Vilas Zoo may cancel this event. You will be notified by email if the event is cancelled. Tickets for cancelled dates will be refunded in 3-5 business days.
